Rich Founders Of Popular Businesses Are No Better Than The Ghanaian Youth – Dr. Tony Gyasi

Dr. Tony Otin Gyasi from the Ghana Revenue Authority has empowered the youth of Ghana, saying founders of popular brands like Facebook, Google, etc. are no better than the kind of young people in Ghana.

He said this when speaking on the topic of entrepreneurship in Ghana after some applicants for the just ended Immigration Service were disqualified for various reasons.

The just ended exercise for the enlistment of applicants into the immigration for the prison service has had applicants complaining of disappointments and frustrations. Some applicants were disqualified based on their height, body altering, and even (natural) stretch marks.

Some of the disqualified applicants have however cried out for more jobs to be made available in the country, but Dr. Tony Otin Gyasi from the Ghana Revenue Authority says that ‘the only way to address Ghana’s unemployment situation is to pay more attention to entrepreneurship.’

“It is important that such programs are taught not only to those in business schools but even to people in the sciences and different areas should also be taught the art of entrepreneurship because host of the great companies in this world; Facebook, Google, have been formed by entrepreneurs and now they employ literally hundreds and thousands of people.

“And if I look at the founders of some of these companies, they are no better than the kind of young people we have in this country. It is just that we need to find out how to direct their thoughts, the mind and teach them the right manner,” he said.

“Of course, if we have more entrepreneurs it means they will be creating more jobs, there will be more job openings so the supply of jobs will go up and the economist will tell you when the supply goes up then it takes care of demand and you have fewer people searching for jobs. So it will definitely help. I cannot say whether it will resolve it completely but what I can say with confidence is that it will help,” he added.
