The Student Representative Council (SRC) Elections, in the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), was slated for yesterday, Thursday, January 28, 2021.
Prior to the Elections, the University Relations Officer, Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, addressed all students on modality measures put in place to ensure a smooth running of the election.
Despite challenges that delayed the Voting yesterday, the election was a smooth and safe one, with strict adherence to the COVID-19 safety protocols.
The elections came to a close between 5:40 pM and 6:00 PM. At around 6:30 PM, the election results were declared.
After the result declaration of the SRC Elections, Mr. Samuel Sesah, one of the SRC Presidential candidates, emerged as the winner for the SRC President portfolio.
Mr. Samuel Sesah is a 5th Year Optometry student, who also run as a candidate in the previous academic year’s SRC Elections, but lost to Mr. Adu Baah Charles, Also Known As ABC.

Students of KNUST yesterday elected Mr. Sesah as the President of their Students Representative Council for the 2020/ 2021 academic year.
Mr. Sesah polled 8,194 of the total votes, leaving his two contenders, Bright Emmanuel Ampofo and Appiah Selassie Kwame Jake with a paltry of 488 and 526 votes respectively.
This year, Samuel Sesah gathered more momentum to compete again after losing to ABC in the previous year, and eventually won the SRC Presidential seat.
The organization of this year’s KNUST SRC election has been tagged as historic, following the halt of the elections last year due to the surge of COVID-19.
Initially, the Interim SRC Judicial Committee had excluded First years from voting in this SRC Elections but the Dean Of Students, Professor Wilson Agyare, disbanded the injunction of the SRC Judicial Committee and declared all students (First to Final year) eligible to vote.
