Microsoft To Aid KNUST in Enhancing Teaching, Learning and Research

The Corporate Affairs Director of MEA Emerging Markets at Microsoft, Mrs. Angela W. Ng’ang’a has paid homage to KNUST to familiarize with the school and see how best they could help the institution.

According to Mrs. Ng’ang’a, her outfit will do their very best to collaborate with KNUST in enhancing teaching, learning and research.

This, she explained, is one of Microsoft’s initiatives to partner with universities to infuse digital skills into students while they are in school. 

Mrs. Ng’ang’a further mentioned that collaborating with KNUST would enhance free access to Microsoft’s available contents that enable students to be creative.

She added that their firm is ready to extend their support and exchange ideas for teaching, learning and research.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ellis Owusu-Dabo in his remarks noted that one thematic area in the University’s vision is to improve on digitisation of teaching and learning in the era of COVID-19, hence, eulogized Microsoft for investing in academia.

He stated that the University Management is putting in place solutions to make teaching and learning seamless by improving infrastructure, old systems, data, network services, among others.

He urged Microsoft to assist in providing tools that will equip students to be ready for the job market.

Dr. Peter Yirenkyi, the University’s ICT Consultant stressed that every student must have technical skills, thus, solicited for Microsoft’s support in assisting KNUST to acquire contents that would train and equip staff and students for the industry and award them with certificates.

In response, Mrs. Ng’ang’a assured Microsoft’s commitment to providing local connectivity and licensing of their products at a discounted rate to KNUST.
