KNUST students share their ‘COVID-Valentine’ experience

Since coronavirus emerged in the country, this year’s Valentine’s day was the first to be celebrated with such restrictions governing its celebration.

On Saturday, the 13th of February, the Ghana police service issued a statement prior to the Valentine celebration calling on all Ghanaians to observe safety protocols during the occasion or else face sanctions.

In the statement, the Ghana police said that it had come to their notice that some pubs and other settings were going to celebrate the event in a grand style, which according to them, could go contrary to the measures the President had laid down in his last address.

However, the police in their release warned all Ghanaians and sought to ensure that all citizens complied with the COVID-19 safety measures that were laid down.

In light of that, interviews were conducted by Focus FM’s Jennifer Osei to know how valentine’s day was celebrated by some students and staff.

Some students and staff of KNUST shared their ‘COVID-Valentine’ experience.

“My valentine’s day was a normal day for me. It was a normal Sunday which I went to church, came back, and slept all day. There was nothing special about it. But I received messages from loved ones and friends, I had fun on WhatsApp,” one student shared.

One other student also shared his COVID-Valentine experience with Focus FM.

“It was a good day for me because I had a surprise visit from my mum and a package from her as well. I wasn’t expecting it so it actually made my day.”
