Journalism Training: Propagate Positivity With Your Platforms – KNUST URO

The University Relations Officer (URO) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, has advised student journalists of the University to use their media platforms in propagating positivity about the institution.

In his address to journalists at a two-day journalism training organized for some section of writers on 27th and 28th September 2021, Dr. Norris mentioned that the guiding principle of KNUST student journalists should always be aligned with the vision of the university. Which is “To be globally recognized as the Premier Centre of excellence in Africa for teaching in Science and Technology for development; producing high calibre graduates with knowledge and expertise to support the industrial and socio-economic development of Ghana and Africa.

“Your core mandate as student’s journalist is to project and protect the corporate image of the university,” he said.

The training which was organized to improve the participants’ skills in some areas of expertise was graced with experts like Mr. Daniel Kenu, a journalist at Graphic Communications, Dr. Daniel Nkrumah, a lecturer at the Communications Studies department at KNUST, and Mr. Samuel Kwadwo Jantuah, Focus FM’s General Manager who doubles as a journalist at Multimedia Groups of Companies who shared their insights at the training.

The experts listed above contributed heavily to broadening the scope of the journalists that were available.

The journalists were taken through various interview skills, in-house writing skills and some other media related skills.

The General Manager of Focus FM, Mr. Samuel Jantuah on his part, urged the participants to ensure that they put into practice the knowledge acquired from the training.
