Covid-19 Vaccination exercise to continue today-Ghana Health Service

The Ghana Health Service is set to continue the covid-19 vaccination throughout the country today, 24th September 2021, as it has taken delivery of additional doses of the covid-19 vaccines.

According to the Ghana Health Service in a statement released on 23rd September 2021 “this phase of the exercise is open to the general public and persons eighteen (18) years and above who have never received a vaccine or have received only one dose of AstraZeneca are to participate in this exercise.’’

“Eligible persons are therefore advised to take along a valid photo ID card when visiting any designated center within their respective regions for vaccination, persons due for the 2nd dose should preferably send the ID card presented for the first dose as well as their covid-19 vaccination card.” the statement added.

As of September 23, 1,643,172 vaccine doses had been administered in Ghana, with some persons only receiving the first doses. Ghana has so far secured over 3.2 million vaccines, some of which are yet to be rolled out.  Ghana has 1.2 million Moderna vaccines and over 500,000 doses of Johnson and Johnson vaccines in waiting, in addition to the Astrazeca jabs available.

The United States government is also set to donate 1.3 million Pfizer vaccines to Ghana.
