A former Presidential candidate in the 2020/2021 National Union of Ghana Students(NUGS) elections Mr. Yiadom Boakye better known as YB bagged the award for Most Influential Student of the year at the just-ended National Students Awards (NSA) event organized by CliqAfriq Ghana.
Yiadom Boakye who is reading Bachelor of laws at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has embarked on numerous projects which have impacted the lives of several students and have awarded him the Most Influential student of the year at the NSA awards.
Among such projects is his donation of stationary to Cherubs orphanage in the Ashanti region in January, provision of food items to support the NUGS FOOD BANK during the lockdown. He also introduced the “SUPPORT YOUR ALMA MATER CAMPAIGN” an initiative which sought to support Senior High Schools with some Personal Protective Equipment to help curb the spread of Covid-19 in Senior High Schools
In an interview with Focus FM’s Irene Pomaa Kumi, he highlighted a number of projects under the “SUPPORT YOUR ALMA MATER CAMPAIGN”
“I started with Opoku Ware School. I donated 10 veronica buckets (big size), 1200 face masks, 30 gallons of liquid soap, 10 big plastic bowls, and 10 tissue papers
I went to my basic school, Bethel Methodist international at Kwadaso, and also adopted a school in my father’s hometown ( Adum AFRANCHO R/C JHS ) gave them 2 veronica buckets ( big sizes ), 150 face mask, 5 gallons of liquid soap, 2 big plastic bowls and 5 tissue papers to each school.
After my donation at OWASS, other individuals as well as old student associations also donated PPES to their ALMA MATER. Ofori Panin SHS, Osei Tutu SHS, etc”
He also disclosed his intention to contest for the Office of the NUGS presidency hopefully next academic year.
