Soccer star Megan Rapinoe at an event at the White House, disclosed that she is has been devalued for being a woman.
According to her, she is being paid less than the men that do the same job as she does even though she has helped win four world cup championships and four Olympic gold medals for the United States.
“From where I come from, I could only be dreaming of standing in the position I am Today at the white house. I have helped, along with my teammates, won four world cup championships and four Olympic gold medals for the United States. But despite those wins, I’ve been devalued, disrespected, and dismissed because I am a woman.”
In her address, she added that “I’ve been told that I don’t deserve any more than less because I am a woman.”
Despite the wins she and her team achieved, she is still paid less than men who do the same job which is unfair.
She later in her speech also revealed that she is a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
“I’m a member of the LGBTQ community.”
