FixTheCountry case adjourned to June 21over late filing of documents
An Accra High Court has adjourned to June 21, a case filed by the Ghana Police Service seeking to halt a street protest by the fix the country campaigners.
This was after lawyers for the protestors informed the court they had only been to comply with its order to file their arguments in support of the quest to hit the streets on Monday, June 14.
The Ghana Police Service argues allowing the group to hold a street protest will endanger citizens to possible Covid-19 infections. It earlier secured a court order that halted the May 9, street protest.
A Supreme Court Panel presided over by Justice Yaw Appau has set aside a High Court order that indefinitely barred the fix the country campaigners from staging a street protest.
In restraining the protestors, the High Court stated that they are not to hit the streets until such a time that the appropriate authority lifts the Covid-19 restrictions on public gathering.
