Entrepreneurship needs discipline, commitment and dedication- Newlove Asamoah
The executive director of Centre for Economic and Business Research, Mr Newlove Asamoah has bemoaned that entrepreneurship comes with various challenges, therefore entrepreneurs should be provided with the needed support for their businesses to survive the test of time.
In an interview with Focus FM’s Blessing Doe on the Teknokrat show on Tuesday, October, 19, Mr Asamoah explained that entrepreneurship needs dedication, commitment and discipline to nature their business.
“To be an entrepreneur, you have to be someone who is disciplined, committed and dedicated so that right from the beginning you have to nature the business or whatever you are doing. You have to give it 100% of your time, resources and sometimes it get to a point you feel like giving up and you need support around you to make sure that you are encouraged and when you have internal motivation then you will be able to see it through”
As the Nation Builders Cope (NABCO) contract of three years ends in a few days time, Mr Asamoah mentioned that government can not absorb all the 100,000 graduates, and therefore reiterated that graduates should venture into entrepreneurship in order to reduce the crisis of unemployment.
This comes after the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta made a statement indicating that government payroll is full and had urged fresh graduates from the various tertiary institutions to find innovative ways of becoming entrepreneurs.
Mr Asamoah also advised that entrepreneurs should research more on the market value of their products to consumers, before venturing into entrepreneurship.
“When you have no experience, what you can do is to do proper research, what we call market research about whatever you want to do”.
“When I say there is a market for something, you are adding value and the value you’re adding will make a difference in the life of the people and therefore people will be willing to pay money for it”.
He added that volunteerism is the best option for unemployed graduates which can assist them in gaining permanent employment.
