
Developing: Biden and Harris Inaugural Ceremony ongoing
The Inaugural ceremony for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris which was slated for Today, January 20, 2021, has already begun.
Joe Biden is at the US Capitol in Washington where he will formally become the 46th US president just before 17:00 GMT.
Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris will take the oath of office alongside Joe Biden as the first woman to hold that position.
Guests who appeared at the ceremony include former president Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, George W. Bush and Laura Bush, and Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Donald Trump is the first former president to not attend his successor’s inauguration – only the fourth president not to do so.
Meanwhile, his deputy Mike Pence is there.
Biden and Harris started their day with a church service at the Cathedral of St Matthew in Washington.
Some 25,000 troops will guard the inauguration ceremony after a deadly riot at the Capitol earlier this month.
