Ghana and Columbus Crew defender Jonathan Mensah has been listed in the top five defenders in the Major League Soccer ahead of the commencement of the new season.
The strong guardsman guided Crew to the 2020 MLS championship triumph as captain and with some stupendous performances in the league.
Mensah is ranked the second-best defender in the league just behind Nashville’s Walker Zimmerman who ended up picking the defender of the year award in 2020.
The former Ghana U-20 World Cup winner played every minute of the 2020 regular season, and featured in all the games in the MLS is a Back tournament.
He was instrumental in ensuring the Golds and Black won the Major League Soccer.
Inter Miami’s Jorge Figal places third on the list following an excellent display in their inaugural season. The 26-year-old Argentine is expected to play a key role ahead in the 2021 campaign.
Yeiman Gomez of the Seattle Sounders and young New York Red Bulls defender Aaron Long complete the list.
