EC to go on break starting Wednesday, December 23, 2020
The Electoral Commission is set to go on a break on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, and expected to resume on Tuesday, January 19, 2020.
In a statement released by the commission, it said: “following the successful and peaceful conduct of the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, Management has decided that the Commission will break for Christmas and New Year on Wednesday, 23th December 2020 and resume duty on Tuesday, 19th January 2021.”
President Akufo-Addo emerged winner in the presidential polls after Ghanaians marched to vote on the 7th of December 2020.
In spite of that, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is disputing the presidential election result, by protesting against the EC nationwide.
This comes after the party’s flagbearer, John Mahama, refused to concede to President Akufo-Addo and called for an independent audit of the results.
