COVID-19 death toll passes 500,000 globally

More than 501,000 people have died after contracting coronavirus, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University in the US. Since the outbreak began, there have been more than 10 million cases.

As these charts show, the number of confirmed cases is increasing in most continents, apart from Europe.
