On 31st March 2017, A-zone Network, a non-governmental organization comprising passionate professionals and tertiary students was founded by outstanding young individuals spearheaded by Dr. Hayford Adaboh. For 3 years, A-zone Network has committed to its objective of inspiring and mentoring young people to discover their God-given potentials through 3 major initiatives: Start Right Mentorship Program, Outside The Classroom (OTC) self-development Program, and the Inspire Me, Show.
A-zone Network currently has three local chapters on three tertiary campuses: KNUST, UCC and the College of Health, Kintampo with a current membership of 186 professionals and tertiary students.
Start Right mentorship program is organized to inform high school students and freshmen in tertiary institutions about their academic and career options, scholarships and available financial opportunities. It also aims at connecting high school students with tertiary students, graduates, and professionals in various fields. In the past 3 years, A-zone Network has successfully organized 20 successful Start Right Mentorship Programs in 13 Senior High Schools and 8 Junior High Schools, mostly in the Ashanti and Central regions of Ghana reaching over 3,568 students.
OTC has seen about 253 tertiary students completing the training in 3 successful editions. The initiative is aimed at building the capacity and skills of tertiary students. It teaches non-scholastic skills to bridge the gap between knowledge acquired through traditional college lectures and real-life requirements. The program offers weekly sessions to learn, discuss, share and practice skills such as leadership, public speaking, social networking, personal branding, CV writing, scientific research, data analysis, etc.
Inspire Me Show is a YouTube broadcast show that shares the success stories of heroes and “sheroes” of our society. This is aimed at guiding, informing and inspiring young minds to make savvy decisions. You may find the first episode on their YouTube channel.
The Chairman of the KNUST Chapter, Mr. Prince Ansah Mensah, service personnel at the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR) noted, “giving back to society is our prime motive. We believe that when we inform young people, they will make savvy and informed decisions. For 3 years we have held on to this mission and we arduously do it with much joy.”
“A-zone Network is fast-growing and would soon extend to all regions of the country”, Dr. Adaboh, executive director told campus360gh.com. He also noted that funding the activities of the organization has been their major challenge over the 3 years with no support from an external body. He also disclosed to campus360gh.com that their activities are largely funded by contributions of members who are largely students with no income.
As A-zone Network marks 3 years today, Dr. Hayford Adaboh expressed gratitude to all who have been of support to the organization and also announced to the general public that A-zone Network will officially be launched on the 3rd of October, 2020. They are calling on friends and family to come and grace the occasion as they also fundraise to support the organization.
