African Young leaders for global health in collaboration with Global Health Focus has organised a two day workshop program on Global Health for its members at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
The two day program termed as the Global Health Emerging Leaders Program held on the 11th and 12th October, 2021 was ‘to deliver global health learning and leadership development to future generation of leaders in health, especially in developing countries.’
According to the organisers of the program, the purpose of the program was to develop critical thinkers and leaders in global health for the purposes of having global health equity in the world.
Professor Don Eliseo Lucero-Prisno the Founder and Managing Director of Global Health Focus, also a research scientist at Harvard T.H Chan University School of Public Health delivering his address said, ‘the program is not a conference but a rather a workshop that will help understand you as a person in global health’.
‘At the end of this two day workshop, we will get the students to understand global health and their role in it so they can impact all the different health programs of the world and get them as soon as possible trying to get populations of the world healthier and make this world a more equitable place’, he further elaborated.
“This program is global and we have done it in many countries especially in Africa. Eventually we will be mentoring them and also provide research at the global level and do a leadership activities while they are young. And the goal of this is to get population healthier,” he added.

The modules covered at the conference are Global Health Epidemiology and Dynamics, Global Health Equity, Global Health Economics and Health Economics Assessment, Global Health Education, Research skills development, Leadership development and transformation, and Navigating a career in Global Health.
