
The Executive Committee of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi has considered issues relating to students’ requests for re-opening of the university’s portal to enable them to register their courses following the closure of the university as directed by the president on March 16, 2020.
The Executive Committee has granted amnesty to the under listed categories of students to enable them to complete their programmes of study.
- All students who at the time of the closure of the university had not registered their courses.
- Students who owe school fees
The amnesty which took effect from 30th April 2020 is expected to come to an end on 31st May 2020.
A letter signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academic Affairs) of KNUST, Mrs. Magaret Dzisi requested the students’ registration portal to be opened.
“You are, therefore, requested to open up the students’ registration portal for all students concerned to register from now till the end of May,” as contained in the letter.
It also advised all examination officers to untag students to facilitate the process.
Students who are serving punishment for any misconduct are however not covered by this amnesty.
KNUST rolls out E-Learning mode of teaching and learning
KNUST has since Wednesday, 25th March 2020 been rolling out e-learning mode of teaching and learning to help students during this period of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Registrar in a statement directed the teaching staff to continue working from home and interact with their students online.
“They should ensure that there are regular and timely assignments to students in order for them to submit the same on time,” the statement said.
It advised the teaching staff to make use of the University’s virtual classroom, which has been equipped to handle all online-based academic activities.
