The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has joined the fight against the coronavirus pandemic by donating to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Hospital and the Ghana COVID-19 Trust Fund.
The short ceremony at the KNUST Hospital saw the executives of UTAG; the National President, Professor Charles Marfo, the Vice President Dr. Otchere Addai-Mensah, the secretary, Dr. Eric Abavare and the treasurer, Mr. I.K Appiah donating items including; personal protective equipment (PPE) such as Goggles, N95 face Masks and hand sanitizers totaling an amount of ten thousand Ghana cedis (GHC 10,000.00) to the KNUST Hospital.
The Association also made a cash donation of Thirty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 30,000.00) to the Ghana COVID-19 Trust Fund set up by the President of the Republic.
According to Professor Charles Marfo, a lecturer at KNUST and the National President of UTAG, the Association has taken note of this pandemic and its implication on the resources of the KNUST Hospital and the national budget and has, therefore, decided to support the Hospital’s and government’s efforts in the fight against the spread of the pandemic.
He thanked all health workers in the country for their selflessness and urged them to continue working hard to defeat COVID-19 entirely from the country.
