KNUST: SRC Electoral Commission postpones 2020 elections

The confirmation of coronavirus cases in Ghana has led to a number of activities being brought to a haut

The Electoral Commission (EC) of the Student Representative Council (SRC) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has postponed the 2020 SRC elections until further notice following the government of Ghana’s directive to close down all public universities due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

“After an emergency meeting with stakeholders held on March 17, 2020, the much anticipated SRC elections initially scheduled to take place on March 26, 2020, has been postponed till further notice,” as contained in a statement released by the EC.

The commission however advised all candidates to continue to heed to the electoral rules and regulations during this period.

The 2020 KNUST students elections which began in February has so far seen all colleges, Halls, Non-residential, KATH and other elections completed with the exception of the GRASAG-KNUST and the main SRC election.

Thirteen candidates were cleared by the electoral commission after the vetting to run for various SRC portfolios in this year’s election.
