Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has directed all students to vacate their hostels and all facilities on the campus.
The decision was arrived at after an emergency executive committee of the university meeting held on March 16, 2020. This follows the directive of the president of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo on measures to contain the coronavirus pandemic.
Per the university’s directive, Students are to leave campus from Monday, 16 to Saturday, March 21, 2020, by 5:00 PM.
“It is mandatory for them to leave campus as indicated. Residential halls would be under lockdown after the said period has expired,” as contained in a statement signed by the university registrar.
International students are however allowed to stay until further notice.
“Staff and students are advised to follow the protocols as established by the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Services.”
Four new cases
Four more cases of Coronavirus have been confirmed in Ghana.
This brings to six, the total number of cases reported in the country.
This was announced by the government at a press briefing to update citizens on the outbreak of the Novel 2019 (COVID-19) in the country.
The government said three of the cases were recorded in Accra while one other was recorded in the Ashanti Region.
The Director of Public Health at Ghana Health Service, Dr. Badu Sarkodie who provided updates on the country’s cases said the new cases were also imported into the country.
He said two of the cases were confirmed on the 13th of March 2020 while the other two were confirmed on 14th March, 2020.
