10 Out of 300 Kenyan Nurses Pass English Language Test For UK Jobs

Hundreds of Kenyan health workers have failed English language tests that would have permitted them to work in the National Health Service (NHS) of the U.K

Kenya’s Health Minister, Mutahi Kagwe revealed that only 10 out of 300 health workers who applied for the jobs with the NHS passed the exams.

This comes after Kenya had signed a deal with the UK in July to open a scheme to allow its unemployed nurses and other medics to work in the UK.

English and Swahili are the main languages of instruction in universities and technical institutions in the country.

Currently there are almost 900 Kenyans working in the NHS in various capacities, according to the British authorities.
